Accessibility Statement.
Winnemucca Main Street is committed to making its website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. This page explains our commitment and how to reach us if you encounter a barrier.
Our Commitment
Winnemucca Main Street Corporation is committed to ensuring that its website is accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving the public, we believe digital accessibility is not optional — it is a fundamental part of our obligation to the communities we serve.
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.
Measures We Have Taken
To support accessibility, Winnemucca Main Street has incorporated the following practices into the design and development of this website:
- Sufficient color contrast ratios on all text and background combinations, meeting WCAG AA minimums
- Semantic HTML structure with proper use of headings, landmarks, and lists
- Descriptive alternative text on all meaningful images
- ARIA labels on all interactive elements including navigation, buttons, and form fields
- Full keyboard navigability — all functionality is accessible without a mouse
- Minimum 44×44px touch targets on all interactive elements, per WCAG 2.5.5
- Skip navigation link at the top of every page for screen reader and keyboard users
- Respect for the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query — animations are suppressed for users who have requested reduced motion in their system settings - Forms include clearly associated labels and descriptive error messaging
Known Limitations
While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance, some content on this site may not yet fully meet all guidelines. Areas we are actively working to improve include:
- Third-party embedded content (such as event calendars and donation forms) — these are managed by external services and may have their own accessibility limitations outside our direct control
- Uploaded documents (PDFs, guides) — we are working to ensure all downloadable resources meet accessibility standards
We are committed to addressing known gaps on an ongoing basis. If you encounter a barrier not listed here, please let us know.

We will make reasonable efforts to respond within 5 business days and to provide the information or content you need through an accessible alternative method while the issue is being addressed.
Third-Party Content
Some pages on this website include content or functionality provided by third-party services, including our events calendar, photo gallery, and donation processing. While we select vendors with accessibility in mind, we cannot guarantee full WCAG conformance for content and interfaces outside our direct control. We encourage users who encounter barriers with third-party content to contact us so we can assist or provide an alternative means of access.
